Art Moves Kids

Creating a love of movement.

We are passionate about getting more kids moving more - to improve physical health and mental wellbeing for young people in our area.  We want to use art to inspire young people, particularly those from less-engaged groups, to get excited about moving and playing sport in all its forms.

In 2025, Bradford was selected as the UK’s City of Culture, sparking a year long celebration of the youth, diversity and creativity of the District. Sustainability Sorted was awarded a community ‘Do your Thing’ grant for our Art Moves Kids project - This is How I Move.

Working in collaboration with local sport educators, Kanga, we have engaged hundreds of children from across the district to create drawings of how they love to move. With help from the Kanga coaching team and a local artist and designer, these drawings are being turned into a series of playable Trumps. (Release December 2025)

This is how I move

  • Create

We enable primary school aged children to express their love of movement through art. Children attending Kanga’s summer camp programme were asked to create a picture showing how they love to move. We had over 200 drawing submissions from children aged 4 to 12 covering 35 sports & activities; from football to yoga, ice skating to horse riding.

  • Connect

We understand that not everyone feels comfortable playing team sports. Some people love to run, others love to climb. Some like ball sports, others like to leap and spin. We want to create a love of movement in all its forms and help kids discover their passion and connect with others who they can share it with.

  • Inspire

Our playable trumps decks will be shared with all the schools taking part in our Art Moves Kids projects.
Alongside the release of the cards, we are launching a new webpage to help families to find places in the local area where they can get involved in the range of sports depicted in the cards.
